Put Away Those Oven Mits! These Mitten-Made Sweets Are Ready and Waiting…

Happy Sweetest Day, Mitten lovers! Every year on the third Saturday in October, we Michiganders have an excuse to show our romantic side while enjoying some good ole Michigan-made sweets. Don’t have a sweetheart? Not to worry… grab a few of these treats and kick back with a Netflix marathon. You deserve it!

Baked daily in Harbor Springs, these homemade cookies have been highly praised by Rachael Ray, the Food Network, Midwest Living Magazine and the “Official Best of Michigan” TV program (just to name a few). They hand-cut their own chocolate chunks and use locally grown Northern Michigan cherries in each batch. Don’t live near Harbor Springs? No problem! Just go online and order them to ship.

Don’t want to go out? How about a night in with a tub of Michigan-made Hudsonville ice cream? This company was started back in 1895 and to this day resides in creameries and grocery stores located throughout Michigan, providing an assortment of flavors that range from Mackinac Island Fudge to Grand Traverse Bay Cherry Fudge.

CupcakesThe Cupcake Station

This was the first ever cupcake shop to open in Michigan! A personal favorite of ours here at MiMittenState… these cupcakes will NOT disappoint! You can find a shop in Ferndale, Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Rochester and Plymouth. Not a cupcake person? They have cookies, pie, fudge bars, cheesecake and even cupcakes for your dog! Give it a try–they have a mini cupcake option for every flavor (we recommend the red velvet).

Regardless of what special treat you’re using to celebrate today, just make sure it’s a mitten-made one! You can’t go wrong!
