PETOSKEY, Mich. — The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a federal agency, has released its ratings for hospitals around the country, and Petoskey’s McLaren Northern Michigan has received five stars, which marks the highest possible score.
One of four hospitals in Michigan to receive the top rating, McLaren Northern Michigan’s score is a result from the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating Medicare survey.
Previously this summer, the U.S. News & World Report released its annual rankings of hospitals. McLaren Northern Michigan landed as the 8th-best hospital in the state of Michigan in that publication, being recognized as “high performing” in the urology specialty. The University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor and Beaumont Hospital in Royal took the first and second rankings, respectively.
The only other hospitals in Michigan to receive the five-star rating were Holland Community, Oaklawn and St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.
